These games originally emerged in Japan, and their popularity among players in Europe has recently snowballed. In its unbiased observation of the automated mechanisms used in escape rooms, the film raises questions about surveillance, the human yearning to play, and the relation between imprisonment and desire.

Hans is gathering deadwood in a cold, dark forest when he is surprised by a visit from the sinister Evert and Ria. Seemingly without making contact with Hans, they also begin collecting wood, but their gathering skills leave a lot to be desired.

Moved by compassion, Hans offers some wood from his stack. Evert and Ria eagerly accept, but when they take more than Hans expects, he discovers getting rid of them won’t be easy.

On a frosty October evening, Jean, a junk collector from Limburg, is driving his carrier moped through the forest between Veurs and Hagelstein.

He slows down: a truck is stood still by the side of the road in the middle of the forest.

Jean inspects the apparently abandoned vehicle. Taking a good look around, he dismounts thinking he can make a fortune. But from the moment he sets foot in the vehicle’s cabin, it becomes clear that the truck is anything but easy prey…
